Leicester City midfielder Wilfred Ndidi emphasizes the urgency for Nigeria to secure maximum points in their upcoming World Cup qualifiers against South Africa and Benin.
Currently occupying the 3rd position in Group C, the Super Eagles have failed to secure a win in their last three World Cup qualifiers. In preparation for their next matches, Ndidi and his teammates will confront long-standing rivals South Africa at the Godswill Akpabio Stadium on June 7th.
With Nigeria facing the possibility of missing out on the World Cup for the second consecutive time, Ndidi stresses the importance of giving their all when they face South Africa next month.
Speaking to SportsBrief, Ndidi articulated, "Where we are at the moment puts more pressure on us because these games are must-win. I'm not guaranteeing a victory, but I'm emphasizing the necessity of winning."
"We cannot predict the outcome, but it's on us as a team to understand the gravity of the situation. We need to maximize our efforts in these two games to improve our standing," Ndidi added.
