Nathan Ake signs two-year Manchester City contract extension until 2027

Manchester City defender Nathan Ake has committed to the club by signing a two-year contract extension, keeping him at City until 2027.
 
The 28-year-old Dutch defender joined Manchester City in 2020 from Bournemouth on a five-year deal for £40 million. Last season, he played a crucial role in City's success, making 41 appearances across all competitions as the club secured a Treble.
 
Expressing his delight, Ake stated, "This is the best club in the world, I have no doubts about that. Being a Manchester City player makes me incredibly proud every single day. It's a club that demands excellence in every aspect, creating the perfect environment for improvement. At this stage of my career, I am eager to keep developing, and I believe I can do that here."
 
Ake also praised Manchester City's manager, Pep Guardiola, calling him "the best manager in football" and a genius who has transformed his understanding of the game. Working with Guardiola for an extended period is a privilege he cherishes, both on a personal and professional level.
 
The defender began his career at Chelsea as a 15-year-old and later moved to Bournemouth permanently in 2017, after a loan spell during the 2016-17 season. While there were talks about a possible return to Chelsea last year, City's valuation was not met, and Ake continued to contribute significantly to City's success.
 
Ake's versatility as a player, capable of performing at both center-back and left-back positions, has made him an invaluable asset to the squad. Last season, he made more appearances (41) than his first two seasons combined (40), showcasing his growth and importance to the team.
 
Txiki Begiristain, City's director of football, expressed his delight at Ake's development and emphasized his potential to further improve. He praised Ake's technical, tactical, and physical abilities, considering him an ideal defender for Pep Guardiola's style.
