Nasarawa United FC presses panic button over home loss to Kwara United FC

Posted : 12 November 2024

The Deputy Governor of Nasarawa State, Dr. Emmanuel Agbadu Akabe, convened an emergency meeting with key stakeholders of Nasarawa United Football Club following the team's shocking 0-1 home loss to Kwara United in the ongoing 2024/25 Nigeria Premier Football League season.

The meeting, held at the temporary office of the Deputy Governor in Lafia, the State Capital, brought together management members led by Solomon Babanjah, the coaching crew headed by Kabir Dogo, player representatives fronted by Captain King Osanga (MON), and officials from the Nasarawa State Football Association under the leadership of Salisu Galadima 'Basira'.

The State's Commissioner for Youth and Sports Development, Hon. Jafaru Ango, along with Permanent Secretary Dr. Ibrahim Adamu Alhassan, led the entire delegation to the meeting.

According to Deputy Governor Dr. Akabe, the inconsistency of the Solid Miners in the league, particularly the recent home loss to Kwara United on Sunday, is unacceptable.

"This meeting was necessitated by the loss yesterday (Sunday) to Kwara United. The Governor, my principal, is very upset about this and has directed me to convene this meeting to find a way forward for our club."

"The loss and the club's poor run of form are totally unacceptable, and we must take drastic measures to restore our team's competitiveness. We will work around the clock to ensure that our players and team members receive the best support and resources to excel," Akabe stated in part.

Each group explained its areas of concern, and resolutions were reached to return the club to winning ways in the elite domestic league.

Key discussion points centered on improving strategy, player motivation, welfare, and changing coaching tactics and decision-making.

The stakeholders agreed on an immediate action plan to address the team's shortcomings, focusing on tactical adjustments, player morale, increased government support, and regular evaluations to assess the team's progress for necessary adjustments.

The Deputy Governor tasked the stakeholders involved to ensure the implementation of the agreed-upon action plan.

He disclosed that the State Government would convene a follow-up meeting to assess progress and address any lingering concerns.
