The Solid Miners kept their survival hopes alive as they continued to battle against relegation, showing grit and determination on the road on Matchday 29, securing a crucial 1-1 draw against former Premier League champions Kano Pillars at the Sani Abacha Stadium, Kano, on Sunday afternoon.
The game was a keenly contested affair, with both sides creating scoring opportunities.
League legend Rabiu Ali 'Pele' found Auwalu Malam with a great pass inside the box, and the latter calmly slotted the ball past Detan Ogundare in goal for United to give the home side an 18th-minute lead.
Unperturbed by their hosts' rich history in the league, Nasarawa United pushed for an equalizer and were rewarded in the 68th minute through Idris Ajiya's powerful header, assisted beautifully by substitute Benjamin Jack. This was Ajiya's fourth goal for the Lafia-based side since joining the team during the season's break.
United could have won the game, but Benjamin Jack missed a last-minute opportunity, allowing both sides to share the spoils.
The Solid Miners remain 17th on the ladder with 33 points, compared to Pillars' 43, and will host the league's titleholders, Rangers International FC of Enugu, in their next game at Lafia City this weekend.
Before that, the team will stop over in Jos, where they will face Flight FC of Benue in the Round of 64 tie in the 2025 President Federation Cup, formerly known as the FA Cup, during midweek (Wednesday).
