Nasarawa State Commissioner for Youth and Sports Development, Hon. Kwanta Yakubu, led a team of potential investors on a tour of the proposed site for a mini sports stadium in Akwanga Local Government Area.
The investors, who expressed interest in partnering with the state government to develop the stadium, were given a site tour to assess its viability.
Accompanied by the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry and other technical personnel, the Commissioner highlighted the state government's commitment to sports development and the potential benefits of the proposed stadium, including job creation, youth empowerment, and community engagement.
The potential investors praised the state government's initiative and expressed their willingness to collaborate on the project.
They also discussed potential funding models, design options, and operational plans for the stadium.
The proposed mini sports stadium is expected to provide a world-class facility for athletes, promote sports development, and enhance the state's reputation as a hub for sports excellence.
The team also visited the Akwanga Sports Academy, where a committee tasked with recommending its revitalization and revamping has already submitted its report to the Honourable Commissioner for Youth and Sports Development.
Recall that Governor Abdullahi Sule, during the 2023 governorship campaign in Akwanga, promised to construct a befitting sports stadium in the heart of the council area to serve as a hub for talent discovery and development.
