The management of Nasarawa State Women's Football Team, coaches, players, and backroom staff have presented the Betsy Obaseki Women's Football Pre-season Tournament Trophy and medals to the Executive Governor of Nasarawa State, Engr. Abdullahi A. Sule, at the Government House.

The trophy was won by the state women's team, Nasarawa Amazons FC, in October during the 4th edition of the Betsy Obaseki Women’s Football Tournament (BOWFT) 2024, held in Benin City, Edo State.

The team played seven matches during the competition and won all of them without losing any.

Speaking at the event, the chairperson of Nasarawa Amazons, Hajiya Husaina Sulieman Nagogo, expressed her gratitude to the Executive Governor for the love he has shown to the team. She also made vital requests regarding the things the team lacks, which, according to her, the Governor will definitely address in his benevolence.

In his response, Governor Engr. A. A. Sule expressed his happiness and congratulated Nasarawa Amazons for always making the state proud by winning the Betsy Obaseki Women’s Football Pre-season Tournament and for bringing the trophy to Lafia.

Special recognition was given to coach Christopher Danjuma Musa, who serves as the chief coach of both Nasarawa Amazons and the U-20 Women’s Team, the Falconets, by the sports-loving Governor of the state.

Gov. Sule also recognized coach Yahaya Audu, who doubles as the goalkeeper coach for both the Amazons and the Falconets.

“It might interest you to know that the Super Falcons players from Nasarawa Amazons, who were invited to play in the recent friendly games against the Fennecs of Algeria and Les Bleues of France Women's Teams, including Mathias Josephine, Isah Sikiratu, Unachukwu Udoka, Yina Adoo, Akerekoromwei Janet, and Ojiyovwi Kesiena, were also given special recognition by the Governor.”

Nasarawa Amazons defeated Bayelsa Queens 7-6 in penalties after a goalless draw to win the Betsy Obaseki Women’s Football Pre-season Tournament at the Samuel Ogbemudia Stadium in Benin, Edo State.

The Governor promised to continue supporting Nasarawa Amazons FC and sports in general in Nasarawa State.
