Aurelio de Laurentiis, the president of Napoli, has made it clear that neither Chelsea nor Manchester United can afford to sign Victor Osimhen in the current summer transfer window.
Despite Napoli's desire to retain the Nigerian striker, Chelsea remains undeterred by their steadfast position. Osimhen's contract runs until 2025, implying that Chelsea may need to exercise patience if they wish to secure his services.
De Laurentiis emphatically stated that Osimhen will not leave Napoli unless the club receives an exceptionally lucrative offer. He confidently affirmed, "We will see Victor Osimhen wearing our shirt next season, that's for sure. If a more than obscene offer arrives, we will move on and find another top talent, just like we did with [Khvicha] Kvaratskhelia and Osimhen." To discourage potential suitors, Napoli has reportedly set an asking price of £128 million for Osimhen's transfer.
De Laurentiis now claims that only Paris Saint-Germain (PSG) could afford to acquire the services of the Nigerian international during the summer transfer window due to his substantial valuation.
The Napoli president has revised the price tag, suggesting that only offers in the range of €200 million (£170 million) would be taken into consideration by the Italian club.
