The Chairman of Naija Ratels FC, Mrs. Alison James-Jegede, has tasked the players to work harder to justify the trust placed in them by the management and technical staff.
The club manager issued this task ahead of the anticipated start of the 2023/24 season of the Nigeria Women's Football League (NWFL).
Mrs. James-Jegede made these comments shortly after the club engaged in a friendly match with Nigeria's U-20 Women's team over the weekend at the FIFA Goal Project, Moshood Abiola National Stadium in Abuja. She expressed her delight with the improving performance of the Abuja-based Naija Ratels.
"I appreciate the fact that you players are working together on the pitch with noticeable improvements. What's left now is for you to stay focused and achieve the set goals.
"Just keep looking forward; the sky can only be your starting point. As the season is about to begin, I want you to make Abuja and your fans all over the country proud with better results," the club boss told the players.
Earlier, the Club's Head Coach, Bankole Olowookere, assured that the club's performance will continue to rise and that the technical staff has taken note of the weaknesses that will be addressed in the future.
Also, other members of the coaching staff took the time to share their assessments of the team.
The test game, which is part of the preparation for the Falconets' FIFA U20 World Cup qualifier, was watched by a sizable audience and top football administrators, including the Chairman of the Benue State Football Association and Founder of Naija Ratels, Barr. Paul Edeh.
Later on, Barr. Edeh expressed his satisfaction with the steady improvement in coaching and the overall progression of the team, despite regular call-ups of the club's players to various national teams as well as transitions to foreign and other domestic sides.
He said, "I think the coaching staff, led by Coach Bankole Olowookere, has done well with the club, considering the level of consistent technical input and progress that have been impressive.
"The players haven't done badly either. They have shown capability, and I believe that the future looks promising. It's one step at a time in line with the vision of establishing the club.
While demanding more from the players, the club owner said, "I strongly hope to see the club perform better in the new season, which is just a few days away.
"Anyone who invests their money in any venture expects some form of encouragement or another. For me, the encouragement I need is to see these players give their best and perform well so that their careers will benefit from it.
"I also pray for a trouble-free new football season for them and for other clubs participating in the NWFL."
