Naby Keita, previously associated with Liverpool, has made a move to the Bundesliga by joining Werder Bremen as a free agent.
The announcement of his signing was made by Bremen on Friday. Sources suggest that Keita has agreed to a three-year contract with the club, extending his stay at the Weserstadion until 2026.
Reports indicate that the midfielder has agreed to a considerable reduction in wages and will now earn €1.5 million per year, along with potential bonuses. Keita, who is 28 years old, had already made public his departure from Liverpool. By joining Werder Bremen, he returns to the Bundesliga, where he previously played for RB Leipzig.
Back in 2018, the Guinea international became Liverpool's fourth most expensive signing, following the club's payment of £50 million ($60 million) to RB Leipzig.
However, his time under Jurgen Klopp proved to be challenging, as he struggled to make a significant impact on the team. Injuries further hampered his progress, resulting in only eight Premier League appearances this season.
Despite his difficulties at Liverpool, Keita managed to secure every major trophy during his time at the club. He claimed the Premier League, Champions League, FA Cup, Carabao Cup, UEFA Super Cup, and Club World Cup, each once.
His move to Werder Bremen marks a new chapter in his career, with hopes of rediscovering his form and potential.
