Sunshine took the lead in the 24th minute with a well-delivered close-range free kick taken by Richard Christopher, a central defender.
The hosts took control of the game, creating many chances, but the visitors were resilient in defense, denying them opportunities.
However, Christopher was on song again in the 44th minute when he wasted no time scoring from the spot after a defender handled the ball in the 18-yard box.
In spite of all the pressure from the visitors, the hosts refused to give in, ending the match with a clean sheet and securing the maximum points.
The Head Coach of the Sunshine Stars U-19 team, Olarenwaju Ale, expressed happiness over the victory.
“We dominated the game, and that was what gave us the goals. We are just trying to play the way we did in training; we still have more to do in our next away game,” he said.
The Sunshine Stars Youth Team will play away against Gateway U-19 in their next match in Ijebu-Ode, Ogun, on Oct. 1.
