Benjamin Tanimu recently discussed his transfer to Crawley Town and his unexpected inclusion in the Super Eagles squad for the upcoming 2025 Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers.
The versatile defender finalized his move to Crawley Town just before the transfer window closed last Friday, aiming to strengthen the team's defensive lineup.
Crawley Town had recently lost key center-backs Will Wright and Harry Ransom, who were instrumental in their promotion but have since joined Swindon Town and Sutton United, respectively.
To address this gap, Crawley Town signed Tanimu on a two-year contract, marking his first venture into European football following his previous stint at Tanzanian club Singida Black Stars.
Tanimu shared his enthusiasm about joining Crawley Town, highlighting how the timing of his transfer was particularly remarkable. He described the deal as "unbelievable" and expressed his excitement about the new opportunity for both personal and professional growth.
In addition to his club move, Tanimu also commented on his call-up to replace Bright Osayi-Samuel in the Super Eagles squad. He admitted to being unprepared for the call but was eager to contribute and give his best.
Osayi-Samuel was initially set to be part of the squad for the qualifiers but was replaced by Tanimu due to fitness concerns. Tanimu had previously debuted for Nigeria in a friendly against Ghana and participated in World Cup qualifiers against Benin and South Africa.
