The Shooting Stars Sports Club (3SC) of Ibadan goal poacher, Sikiru Alimi, said he was excited to have registered his first league goal for the Oluyole Warriors.
Alimi, the former Remo Stars pointman, rescued the Shooting Stars with a beautiful goal to earn his team a deserved away draw at Samuel Ogbemudia Stadium in Benin.
He put the sword in the heart of Benin Arsenal in the 85th minute with an equalizer that rescued the Oluyole Warriors from defeat in Sunday’s Matchday 17 tie.
Elated Alimi revealed in an interview that he had been looking forward to opening his goal-scoring account for his new club.
“I feel elated, very excited, and very happy for scoring my first goal of the season."
"I have waited so long for this moment, and thank God it finally came." I want to say congratulations to myself, my teammates, and our coaches. We really worked hard for this.
The former Sunshine Stars’ strikers said: “The team’s image was at stake, so we needed it to keep pushing on because we really want to finish on a high, so we are grateful to God for this result."
