Super Eagles striker Moses Simon will have a new head coach as Nantes has parted ways with the French tactician, Pierre Aristouy.
Nantes appointed former Lille coach Jocelyn Gourvennec to replace Aristouy, who had been unemployed for over a year since leaving Lille.
Gourvennec, known for his coaching prowess, previously led Lille to victory in the 2021 Trophée des Champions with a 1–0 win against PSG.
Nantes Football Club bid farewell to Aristouy and his coaching staff after a lackluster performance, securing only one point in their last four Ligue 1 matches.
Aristouy, a former Nantes youth coach, took over as the club's manager on May 9, 2023, lasting barely seven months. Despite winning the Ligue 1 title with Nantes U19 in his debut season, Aristouy struggled to replicate that success at the senior level.
His tenure came to an end due to the team's inconsistent performance, and despite narrowly avoiding relegation in the previous season, Nantes FC decided to terminate his coaching responsibilities.
In an official statement, FC Nantes announced the suspension of Aristouy’s coaching functions, expressing gratitude for his efforts and acknowledging the survival achieved under his guidance.
Nantes currently occupies the 11th place in Ligue 1 after 13 rounds of matches, having won four and lost six games.
