The Super Eagles have been given an early opportunity to avenge their defeat to the Cheetahs of Benin Republic in Abidjan last month, as both teams find themselves once again paired in the same group in the race for the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations, set to begin in two months' time.
While their FIFA World Cup qualifying rematch is scheduled for the final day of the qualification series (6th – 14th October 2025), both teams will face earlier challenges later this year in their quest to qualify among the 24 countries participating in the 35th Africa Cup of Nations, scheduled for Morocco from 21st December 2025 to 18th January 2026.
The draw ceremony, held Thursday afternoon inside the SuperSport studio in Johannesburg, South Africa, saw the Super Eagles also grouped with the Amavubi of Rwanda, whom they will face next in the 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifying series in March 2025, and the Mediterranean Knights of Libya. All four teams are in Group D.
The six-match qualifying series will take place during the FIFA windows in September, October, and November, with two matches scheduled in each seven-day window.
