Erik ten Hag has issued a warning to potential Manchester United owners, saying that spending money on the team without a plan will be useless.
Both Qatari businessman Sheikh Jassim and British billionaire Sir Jim Ratcliffe are awaiting word on the outcome of their attempts to acquire the club.
Both have stated that if they take over at Old Trafford, they are prepared to spend money on new players, although Ten Hag has emphasized that any recruiting drive must be carefully thought out.
"There is a centralisation of good players, of the best managers, also of the money, and it is all here in the UK," Ten Hag said at a news conference.
"That makes a great competition, but also a tough and a hard competition.
"And you have to do the right things and you can have money, but you have to do it and spend it in a smart way. And also you need a strategy behind it, because otherwise, the money doesn't work."
Despite spending about £600 million on 16 new players since taking over Stamford Bridge last summer, London club Chelsea is predicted to place in the bottom half of the Premier League standings. Owner Todd Boehly.
On Thursday, United will play Chelsea.
