Mighty Jets International FC of Jos headed east to the North Central region of Nigeria to honor their Match Day 5 fixtures in the 2023 Nigeria National League (NNL) season against ABS FC of Ilorin in Kwara state.
At the commencement of hostilities, the visiting team realized the magnitude of the task before them, despite high-level preparation and a painstaking recovery routine after the long trip.
The home team created a handful of scoring opportunities during the play, but a lack of clear-minded decision-making and the heroics of goalkeeper Gobum Roduwe saw them reap little or no reward for their creativity.
Mighty Jets International FC gradually grew into the game and gained some control to negotiate a pathway to their opponent's goal for a much-needed goal.
Familiar name Joseph Jatau received the ball from Samuel Nanjuan in the ABS FC territory, but his shot on goal, despite his quick foot to evade his marker on the 40th minute, was only good enough to hit the crossbar.
The trio of Joseph Jatau, Samuel Nanjuan, and Abiye Abdullahi appeared to be thorns in the flesh of the home side consistently in the minutes preceding the hour mark, seeking ways to find the breakthrough. Although it was never the case, as the point man Emmanuel Dung could not go through on goal.
In the dying minutes of the game, ABS FC injected fresh personnel, and coupled with their home support, did everything within their means to suffocate their opponents from Jos. Their strong mentality ensured they left Ilorin with a precious and massive point.
Gobum Roduwe was undoubtedly the hero for Najib Mabo's team, having pulled off a number of outstanding saves to keep his side in the game throughout and gave them reasons to defend deeper.
Up next for Mighty Jets International FC is a home date against Zamfara United at the New Jos Stadium, Zaria Road for the Nigeria National League match.
