Maresca Confident City Will Recover, Dismisses Chelsea as Title Contenders

Enzo Maresca believes Manchester City will eventually recover and return to Premier League title contention, despite their current struggles. City, who have dominated the league with four consecutive title wins, find themselves 12 points behind leaders Liverpool, following a challenging run that has seen them lose nine of their last 12 matches.

 

 Maresca, who previously worked with Pep Guardiola at City, acknowledged the team’s unusual situation, where injuries and returning players not yet at full fitness have contributed to their difficulties. He remains confident, however, that City will find their form as the season progresses.

 

On the other hand, Maresca dismissed any talk of Chelsea being title contenders at this stage. While Chelsea sit second in the Premier League, just four points behind Liverpool, Maresca pointed out that they are still not at the level required to challenge for the championship.

 

Despite a strong start to the season, he stressed that the club's focus remains on improving their players and team rather than feeling the pressure of title expectations. Maresca has been clear about Chelsea’s current position, stating that they are not yet in a position to be considered serious contenders for the title.

 

When asked about Liverpool’s chances of winning the league, Maresca acknowledged their strong performance but refrained from declaring it as their title to lose. He praised Liverpool for their consistent form and success, highlighting the valuable experience their squad has in high-pressure situations, like the numerous finals they've competed in.

 

 While Chelsea have made progress, Maresca emphasized that they are still learning and growing, and are focused on continuing to improve rather than succumbing to the pressure of the title race.
