RB Leipzig announced on Wednesday that Marco Rose has agreed to extend his contract as manager until 2026, adding one more year to his current deal. The Leipzig-native coach, who previously led Borussia Dortmund and Red Bull Salzburg, assumed the helm in September 2022 and immediately guided the team to victory in the German Cup during his inaugural season. His successful tenure continued with a commanding 3-0 triumph over Bayern Munich in the German FA Supercup at the beginning of the 2023-24 campaign.
Expressing his contentment with the contract extension, Rose emphasized his deep-rooted connection to Leipzig, stating, "I'm happy that we're continuing together. I come from here and feel at home in the city and the region."
He also acknowledged the club's ongoing efforts to strengthen the team, affirming their shared ambition to achieve more in the coming seasons. "We feel that there is more to be done and we always want more. We are ambitious, we remain ambitious and we look forward together," Rose added.
Earlier in May, Rose dispelled speculations linking him to Bayern Munich, affirming his commitment to Leipzig by stating, "I think Bayern will be OK without Marco Rose." Under his guidance last season, Leipzig secured a fourth-place finish amidst a transitional phase marked by the departure of key players such as Josko Gvardiol, Christopher Nkunku, Dominik Szoboszlai, and Konrad Laimer. Rose's contract extension follows closely after striker Benjamin Sesko's decision to renew his contract with the club, highlighting Leipzig's efforts to build stability and continuity under Rose's leadership.
