Manchester United have parted ways with manager Erik ten Hag after his two-and-a-half-year tenure at the club. The decision came from the club's board on Monday morning, just hours after a disappointing 2-1 loss to West Ham at London Stadium, which compounded an already challenging season.
The recent defeat marked United’s third winless game in their last four league matches, dropping them to 14th in the Premier League standings. In European competition, United’s struggles have also been apparent, with the team languishing in 21st out of 36 teams in the Europa League rankings.
Ruud van Nistelrooy, who joined United as an assistant under Ten Hag last summer, has been appointed as interim manager. His immediate task will be to stabilize the team as they look to recover from their poor start to the season and aim for a top-half finish in the Premier League.
