Holders Manchester United advanced to the Carabao Cup fourth round with a comfortable win against Crystal Palace at Old Trafford. The Red Devils secured a 3-0 victory in their all-Premier League clash.
United took control early in the game with Alejandro Garnacho opening the scoring, finishing off a low cross from Diogo Dalot. Casemiro doubled the lead moments later when he headed in a precise corner kick from Mason Mount.
Anthony Martial, making his first start of the season, extended the lead further with a clinical first-time finish after receiving a cross from Casemiro. This goal marked Martial's first of the season and showcased his sharpness.
The match was a relatively smooth and controlled performance for United, which was a welcome change given the recent turbulence surrounding the club. Manager Erik ten Hag was able to integrate key players like Mason Mount and Sofyan Amrabat, who made his first start for the club at left-back.
Amrabat, in particular, stood out with his versatility, excellent passing range, and energy. He played a significant role in executing the game plan of creating overloads on the right side of the field.
Despite a comfortable lead, goalkeeper Andre Onana had to make two crucial saves late in the game to deny Jean-Philippe Mateta. In an unfortunate turn, United's goalkeeper Dean Henderson had to be substituted after just 19 minutes due to muscular pain on his debut against his former club.
Overall, this victory provided a sense of stability and control for Manchester United, something they have been missing in recent weeks.
