Manchester City v Arsenal: Mikel Arteta claims the game won't determine the Premier League champion

The Premier League championship will not be decided by Arsenal's top-of-the-table matchup versus Manchester City, according to manager Mikel Arteta.

Prior to Wednesday's game at the Etihad Stadium, league leaders Arsenal were five points ahead of Pep Guardiola's team.

However, City has two games to spare compared to the Gunners, who have lost three straight league games.

"We knew we had to go to Etihad, it will be difficult, but will it decide the season? No," Arteta said.

"The belief is there, I look at how the players reacted after Southampton, they defend each other in every moment. We really want it and we are again going to show it tomorrow night.

"But it has to be perfect because that is what is demanded at this time in the season."

After blowing two-goal leads against West Ham and both Liverpool and Southampton, Arsenal, who last won the Premier League in 2004, tied 3-3 with Southampton on Friday.
