Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola has confirmed that defender Josko Gvardiol is undergoing a medical and is expected to complete his move from RB Leipzig to City within the next few hours. The Premier League champions have agreed to pay a fee of £77 million for the 22-year-old Croatia international.
Regarding the uncertain futures of Kyle Walker and Bernardo Silva, Guardiola stated that the club will do everything possible to keep them. Bayern Munich has expressed interest in signing England defender Walker, while Portugal winger Silva has attracted significant attention from Saudi Arabia and long-time admirers Barcelona.
Guardiola emphasized that his priority is to work with players who want to stay at City, and the club is willing to pay an additional "tax" to bring in new signings due to their status. He wants to continue working with players who are committed to the team, and if any players wish to leave, they will need to receive proper offers.
The manager highlighted that City faces higher costs when acquiring players due to their reputation as a top club. Despite interest from other teams in City's important players, no suitable offers have been received so far. Guardiola stated that once a proper offer is made, the club will fight to extend the player's contract and keep them at the Etihad.
Bernardo Silva is currently conflicted about his future. While he acknowledges the success he has achieved at City and the potential for more, he is also considering a move to a place that aligns with his Portuguese background. Playing for Barcelona has been a long-held dream for Silva, but he is aware of the financial challenges the club is facing, which may affect their ability to make a suitable offer.
