Manchester City bid £80 million for West Ham captain Declan Rice, surpassing Arsenal's rejected offer

Posted : 27 June 2023
According to reports, Manchester City has made an official bid of £80 million plus £10 million in add-ons for West Ham captain Declan Rice.

The Premier League champions are aiming to outbid Arsenal in the race to secure the services of the English international.

Interestingly, City's initial offer matches the amount that Arsenal's bid, which was rejected last week.

The report also mentions that Arsenal is still actively pursuing a deal for Declan Rice.

Earlier this month, the club had a club-record proposal, valued at up to £90 million (consisting of a £75 million fee and £15 million in add-ons), turned down by West Ham.

This rejection has provided an opportunity for Manchester City to make their move for the player.

In addition to their pursuit of Declan Rice, Manchester City is on the verge of completing a deal for Chelsea midfielder Mateo Kovacic. Meanwhile, Ilkay Gundogan is set to join Barcelona on a free transfer from Manchester City.

It remains to be seen how the negotiations will unfold and which club will ultimately secure the services of Declan Rice.
