Managerless Kwara United gets upset loss as Niger Tornadoes claim win in Ilorin

It was also a difficult start for Kwara United FC, who were without their coach Kabiru Dogo, as Niger Tornadoes came charging into Ilorin to inflict a 2-1 loss on the Afonja Warriors.


Recall that Kwara United FC’s former Technical Adviser, Dogo, left the club just a few days before the commencement of the 2024/2025 Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) Match Day 1, which forced the management of the team to appoint the assistant coach in his place.

 


However, things turned out differently as the Ikon Allah Boys overcame the Harmony Boys with a 2-1 victory in a match played at the Ilorin Township Stadium.


To show their intent, it was the Ikon Allah Boys who dominated possession right from the first whistle, scoring two goals before the Harmony Boys managed a consolatory goal in extra time.


Niger Tornadoes scored the first goal through Joseph Godstime in the 32nd minute, while Sabiu Ibrahim added the second goal in the 62nd minute.


The Harmony Boys had to wait until the 90+1 minute for Sadeeq Yusuf to pull one back for his team, reducing the deficit to one goal.
