Man United Sale: Sir Jim Ratcliff Anticipated to Make Offer, Qatari Sheikh Propose Bid Upgraded
Posted : 11 April 2023
On Wednesday, a group led by Qatari financier Sheikh Jassim bin Hamad Al-Thani will submit a revised offer to purchase Manchester United.
The offer will be presented to Raine Group before the deadline of 9 p.m. UK and comes after a 10-hour meeting held with the club last Thursday.
Sir Jim Ratcliffe, a British billionaire, is reportedly anticipated to make an offer on Friday following similar meetings at Old Trafford and United's Carrington training facility.
Sources claim that Elliott Stake Management, a U.S.-based hedge fund, and other parties interested in a minority investment rather than a full acquisition will also make proposals, and Raine Group anticipates receiving other bids that have not yet been made public.
The second phase of the Raine-managed process reportedly gave priority to consortiums vying for control of the club, while current owners the Glazer family are reportedly leaving their options open.
They declared in November that they will investigate "strategic alternatives."
Although tentative bids that were made before Raine's initial soft deadline on February 17 fell short of the Glazers' asking price, the Glazers estimate the value of United at about £6 billion.
It is anticipated that the second offers made by Sheikh Jassim and Ratcliffe, the chairman and CEO of the chemical business INEOS, will be more in line with the Glazers' estimation.
Ratcliffe, on the other hand, has stated he will not purchase the club for a "dumb sum."
According to sources, United staff has been instructed to anticipate "clarity" regarding the ownership structure of the team at the end of the current campaign.
