Major Transfers, Player Movements Across Europe

Posted : 21 July 2024

Barcelona's president recently commented on the possibility of signing Athletic Bilbao's star player, Nico Williams, stating, "We will try." Meanwhile, Atletico Madrid is in discussions with Mikel Marino and Artem Dubbik. Ricardo Clafiori is moving closer to joining Arsenal, and Kevin De Bruyne may leave Manchester City as the Belgian midfielder is undergoing medical tests at Aston Villa.

Erik Lamela, the Argentinian midfielder, arrived in Athens this weekend and was warmly welcomed by thousands of AK fans at the airport. Lamela has signed with the team until 2027. Real Sociedad has secured the signing of 22-year-old left-back Xavi Lopez from Alaves for 6.5 million euros, plus half a million in bonuses. Arsenal also confirmed the signing of 18-year-old goalkeeper Tommy Stafford from Ajax for one million euros, and he may join the Gunners on their trip to the USA.

Amadou Onana, another Belgian midfielder, is undergoing medical tests at Aston Villa, who are prepared to pay about 50 million pounds to Everton. Villa, set to compete in the Champions League next season, have already signed Enso Branchea from Juventus and Ross Barkley from Luton.

Atletico Madrid, having lost several key players since the summer began, including Memphis Depay, Gabriel Paulista, Mario Hermoso, Saul, and Alvaro Morata, hope to finalize two signings by next week. Robin Le Normand is already on his way, and the team is also negotiating with David Hentzko, Mikel Marino, and Artem Dubbik.

Barcelona is considering a low-cost option by marking N'Golo Kante after being impressed with his performance in the Euro. The veteran midfielder is expected to leave Al Ittihad, and Barcelona may attempt to acquire him on loan. West Ham is also interested. Ivan Rakitic underwent medical tests ahead of his potential move to Hajduk Split, while Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg is set to leave Tottenham for Marseille, with Tottenham receiving about 14 million euros for him.

In England, reports suggest Kevin De Bruyne has agreed to terms with Al Ittihad in Saudi Arabia. Although still under contract with Manchester City until next summer, no agreement has been reached yet, and De Bruyne has expressed openness to the move, citing the significant financial benefits at this stage of his career.
