Malam Haruna Maigidansama, Candidate for the Kwara House of Assembly, Ilorin East Constituency, has promised to meaningfully engage youths in sporting activities, if elected on March 18.
Maigidansama, a former General Manager of Kwara United Football Club, made the pledge during a familiarisation tour in Ilorin.
Maigidasanma is contesting under the platform of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP).
The former Secretary-General of the Handball Federation of Nigeria charged the new executives to complement the successes of the past administration.
He said: “I want to congratulate the new executives of the Sports Writers Association of Nigeria (SWAN), Kwara State Chapter, on their election.
“I am not a stranger to SWAN because I have worked with previous administrations and I am pleading for the support of the entire sports community and youths in Ilorin East ahead of my aspiration to emerge winner at the polls next Saturday, so that SWAN will feel the result and success that comes with my turn to champion the lawmakers from Ilorin East.”
“I want to charge you to be up and doing, and ensure that you complete your ongoing project. We started it together and by the grace of God, the project will see the light of day.
“If I come on board, I want to assure you that there is going to be a lot of partnership, particularly from the youth angle, to raise the youths in the area of sports not necessarily football.
“I thank you for giving me the honour to familiarise and I charge you to ensure you live by your manifesto so that in the future you will be able to beat your chest at the end of your tenure,” Maigidansama said.
Earlier, the Chairman of the association reiterated the commitment of his executive to partner with relevant stakeholders to achieve set goals and objectives, especially in areas of training, improving the welfare of members and completion of the SWAN secretariat.
Ismail commended Maigidansama for touching the lives of youths positively and urged him to sustain the spirit.
