After an exciting Match Day 2 of the 2023 Nigeria National League season, with interesting results, there is no doubt that the fixtures brought out the best from all the teams. The best teams won in all the centers.
The star team of the week, however, went to Madiba FC, who, despite a gruesome accident on their way to Awka for the match against Edel, still went on to secure an away win.
There were two away wins in Lagos alone during Match Day 2. Coach Seye Ajayi-tutored Osun United defeated Tradesafe at home, while Crown came from behind to beat International Lagos in front of their home crowd. A total of 33 goals were scored in 17 matches, with 2 goalless draws.
Match Day 3 promises to be another explosive week, with the teams striving to consolidate their positions in the league.
Conference A
Dakkada FC vs. Edel FC: This match will be a clash of two aggrieved teams. Both teams lost their Match Day 2 games, with Edel losing at home. Dakkada, on their part, are still struggling to find their footing in the season. They will surely not leave any stone unturned to amass the maximum three points.
Rovers vs. Smart City: Rovers of Calabar were a shadow of themselves when they played 1472 last weekend. However, against another Lagos team, nothing should stop the Calabar boys from winning at the end of proceedings.
Vandrezzer FC vs. 1472 FC: Vandrezzer got more than they bargained for when they visited Abeokuta last weekend. This week, at home, they are condemned to win to remain among the top flyers.
Ekiti Utd vs. Abeokuta Stomers: The Stormers from Abeokuta have a tough nut to crack in Ekiti. The home boys will not allow the points to slip.
Beyond Limits vs. Coal City: The beautiful grass at the Remo International Stadium will surely witness the best of football this weekend. Beyond Limits will strive to take the game beyond the Coal boys. The home boys are expected to win this one.
Madiba FC vs. Abia Comets: The star team of last weekend, Madiba, will have their hands full when they tackle a revitalized Abia Comets FC. Coach Kevin Ejeh-tutored boys from God's own state will give them a run for their money. It's a match where anything can happen.
Conference B
Osun Utd vs. Warri Wolves: The high flyers in the group will have a lot to contend with in Osogbo. The Warri Wolves will want to maintain a 100% record so far in the league, but the home team will not spare anything for them as long as this encounter is concerned.
Ijebu Utd vs. Tradesafe FC: Tradesafe is taking their redemption battle to Ijebu this weekend. Having lost their last match at home, they may be disappointed at the end of 90 minutes against Ijebu United.
Giant Brillars vs. International Lagos: There will be no place to hide for the International boys from Lagos. Giant Brillars will want to maintain their home dominance.
Ikorodu City vs. FC One Rocket: FC One Rocket is going to Lagos with the morale of a last-week home win. Against Ikorodu City in Lagos, they may return to Uyo empty-handed.
Crown FC vs. Gateway United: It will be a baptism of fire for returnee Gateway FC in Ogbomosho. The Abeokuta team, who will play their first league match in the season, will have their hands full as they meet a Crown team that bagged an away win last weekend. Crown is expected to pick up the maximum points here.
Conference C
Wikki Tourists vs. Elkanemi Warriors: This is a battle between two clubs recently relegated from the Premier League. Wikki Tourists are table toppers in the group. They are still riding on the five goals they scored in the first match against EFCC. These goals have kept them up there for now. Against the Warriors from Maiduguri, they have a tough battle ahead.
Nasarawa United vs. Mighty Jets: Nasarawa United will be battling their next-door neighbors for the maximum points. Both teams are yet to lose any match, and the Solid Miners will surely smile last.
NAF vs. EFCC: This is another local derby at the Area 10 Old Parade Ground pitch. It's a game of desperation, as both teams are yet to pick up any maximum points this season. It would be a match that can go either way.
