Luis Suarez joins Inter Miami, reuniting with Lionel Messi

Luis Suarez is set for a reunion with former Barcelona teammate Lionel Messi as he joins MLS side Inter Miami ahead of the 2024 season. The 36-year-old Uruguayan, who recently concluded his two-year deal with Brazilian club Gremio, will also reconnect with fellow ex-Barcelona players Sergio Busquets and Jordi Alba.

 

Inter Miami co-owner David Beckham expressed delight in welcoming Suarez, emphasizing the player's quality and passion, and Suarez himself expressed eagerness for the new challenge, emphasizing his commitment to achieving success with the club.

 

Suarez's move to Inter Miami comes as a free agent after his contract with Gremio was terminated a year early due to challenges posed by an ongoing knee problem, preventing him from fulfilling the long-distance travel requirements.

 

The Uruguayan striker is optimistic about contributing to Inter Miami's success, expressing readiness to work towards winning titles with the club. Suarez, a highly decorated player, boasts a remarkable career that includes five La Liga titles, triumphs in the Dutch Eredivisie, the UEFA Champions League, and the Club World Cup.

 

He also clinched the 2011 Copa America with the Uruguay national team and previously played a prolific role for Liverpool, scoring 82 goals in 133 appearances from January 2011 to July 2014 before joining Barcelona.
