The Vice Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of Lobi Stars Football Club, Dominic Iorfa has assured Benue people that football in Benue State will experience a huge transformation as modalities are in place to achieve the stated goal.
Mr. Iorfa stated this during Radio programmes on three FM Stations; Radio Benue, Harvest Fm, and Brothers FM, all in Makurdi.
Speaking on the topic; "Football Development in Benue State," the former ex-football international opined that arrangements have been concluded to have a talent hunt for both boys and girls to take them off the streets and present them with an opportunity to embrace and pursue a career in different categories of Under 13, 14, and 15, adding that the boys would be trained rigorously to participate in the NPFL Laliga programmes.
According to him, football authorities have already issued a circular that every NPFL Club must have female and male Laliga teams as a criteria for club licencing in the coming season.
He further maintained that measures to take over a female team in the state known as Honey Bajars, to be named as Lobi Stars Queens, are underway to secure the right of the female team and then bring in good talents as they embark on the programme to harness talents in the 23 Local Government Areas of the State.
Mr. Iorfa was accompanied by other football stakeholders in the state, including; Head Coach of football and head of Technical Department, Benue State Football Association, Steven Waghbo, Chairman Nigeria Coaches Association, Benue State chapter, Eugene Agagbe and Director of Media, Lobi Stars, Emmanuel Ujah.
Coach Stephen Waghbo, in his assertion, noted that the collaboration is a viable one, saying, already the BSFA Chairman has sent a circular to all the Local Government FAs notifying them of a meeting slated at Aper Aku Stadium on the 3rd of July 2023 with the above topic topping the agenda.
Coach Waghbo stated also that, the Governor's Cup which has been in extinction will be revived for the discovery of talents that would suit into Lobi Stars senior team to complement the present good work the current administration of Dominic Iorfa is doing.
Coach Eugene Agagbe in his words, said that the opportunity would engage the abundance of coaches in the state to impact knowledge and guide the lads to develop their potentials to become professional footballers.
