Lobi Stars abandon Tafawa Balewa Stadium, Bauchi, as home ground

Posted : 07 March 2025

Lobi Stars FC has once again moved its home matches away from Tafawa Balewa Stadium, Bauchi, to the far-away Nnamdi Azikiwe Stadium, Enugu, as its newly adopted home ground.

Recall that the Alia Boys' traditional home ground, Aper Aku Stadium, is undergoing reconstruction, which led to the shutdown of the facility for use.

Nnamdi Azikiwe Stadium, Enugu, will be the third choice for Lobi Stars, after initially starting at Lafia Township Stadium, then moving to Tafawa Balewa Stadium, Bauchi, and now to Enugu.

The Lobi Stars FC management has confirmed that the Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) has granted approval for the club to host its home matches at the Nnamdi Azikiwe Stadium in Enugu.

"This new arrangement will take effect from Matchday 28, when Lobi Stars face Ikorodu City.

"The decision to move from Abubakar Tafawa Balewa Stadium, Bauchi, was made in pursuit of a more strategic and favorable environment for the team.

"Following a thorough review, the NPFL has confirmed that Nnamdi Azikiwe Stadium meets all necessary standards for league fixtures, making it the official home ground for Lobi Stars for the remainder of the season.

"With this transition, the club is putting all logistics in place to ensure a seamless relocation and a thrilling matchday atmosphere for both players and supporters.

"Enugu now stands as Lobi Stars' new battleground, and the team is determined to turn it into a formidable fortress as they push for greater success in the league.

"As the countdown begins to our first game at the new home, Lobi Stars remains focused and ready to embrace this new chapter with renewed energy and ambition."
