Livingston's coach, David Martindale, revealed that he gave Nigerian midfielder Samson Lawal his debut in a recent match because he wanted to help him pay his fines.
Lawal, who recently joined Scottish Premiership side Livingston on a three-year deal, had a challenging start adjusting to European football.
Martindale humorously mentioned that he fined Lawal several times and thought of giving him playing time to earn a win bonus.
Despite Lawal's initial struggles, Martindale is confident that he will adapt and integrate into European football.
Currently playing for Livingston's reserves, Lawal's progress suggests he might soon join the first team.
