Liverpool to appeal Curtis Jones' red card in controversial defeat at Tottenham

Liverpool intends to appeal the red card issued to Curtis Jones during their contentious 2-1 loss to Tottenham Hotspur on Saturday. The midfielder was shown a red card for a foul on Yves Bissouma in the 26th minute, following a review by the video assistant referee (VAR).
Initially, referee Simon Hooper had given Jones a yellow card for the challenge but reversed his decision after consulting the pitchside monitor.
If the appeal is unsuccessful, the 22-year-old midfielder would serve a three-game suspension, causing him to miss Liverpool's upcoming Premier League matches against Brighton, Everton, and Nottingham Forest.
On the following Sunday, Liverpool released a statement expressing their dissatisfaction after VAR failed to overturn an incorrect decision that disallowed a goal by Luis Diaz for offside, with the match at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium still scoreless.
The club emphasized that "sporting integrity has been undermined," particularly in light of the governing body for referees, PGMOL, acknowledging that the decision to disallow the goal was "a significant human error."
