In a dramatic Europa League clash, Liverpool faced a 3-2 defeat against Toulouse as the English side's potential equalizer was disallowed in the final moments of added time. The hosts secured the lead with Aron Donnum’s goal in the 36th minute, followed by Thijs Dallinga doubling the advantage in the 58th minute.
Although Liverpool managed to pull one back through an own goal by Cristian Casseres in the 73rd minute, Frank Magri quickly restored the two-goal lead for Toulouse three minutes later. Diogo Jota's goal injected hope for the Premier League side, showcasing his skills with a well-placed shot into the bottom corner.
Luis Diaz, who played after his father’s release from kidnappers earlier in the day, struggled to make an impact and was replaced by Jota late in the game. Liverpool’s hopes of a draw were dashed when Jarell Quansah found the net in stoppage time, only for VAR to disallow the goal due to a handball earlier in the move by Alexis Mac Allister.
Klopp, expressing frustration over the disallowed goal, highlighted the need for better defensive resilience, acknowledging that conceding three goals in such a manner was inexplicable. The chaotic nature of the match was mirrored in Klopp’s post-match interview, where boisterous cheers from Toulouse supporters interrupted the discussion. Despite the defeat, Liverpool remains at the top of Group E, holding a two-point lead over Toulouse.
