Liverpool coach Arne Slot expressed his appreciation for the trust shown by Trent Alexander-Arnold, who has been with the club since childhood, as he steps into the role previously held by the beloved Jurgen Klopp. Alexander-Arnold, an integral part of the team with 231 Premier League appearances, recently praised Slot's coaching style, indicating he welcomes constructive criticism from the new manager.

 

Slot acknowledged the challenges of succeeding a manager of Klopp's stature, noting the significance of the relationship players have with their former coach. He emphasized the importance of having the support of key players like Alexander-Arnold, especially during this transition period for the club. Ahead of Liverpool's League Cup clash against West Ham, Slot highlighted the positive impact of Alexander-Arnold's endorsement.

 

In preparation for the match, Slot aims to field a strong lineup to defend the trophy but will need to rotate his squad due to recent matches, including a Champions League win over AC Milan and a Premier League victory against Bournemouth. With goalkeeper Alisson sidelined due to a muscle injury, Ireland's Caoimhin Kelleher will take his place, while new signing Federico Chiesa, who joined from Juventus, is expected to start but may not be fit for a full match.
