Liverpool, Arsenal, and other top clubs that have shown interest in acquiring Super Eagles striker Victor Osimhen or his counterpart Alexander Isak may now lean towards Osimhen, following a significant increase in Isak’s market value. Isak's value has risen from €75 million to €100 million, potentially changing the dynamics of the transfer market for both players.
Both Osimhen and Isak are regarded as two of the brightest young strikers in world football today. Their impressive performances have drawn attention from several elite European clubs, including English Premier League giants such as Liverpool, Arsenal, and Manchester United. However, despite the interest, neither player has secured a move to these clubs so far.
Osimhen, currently on loan at Galatasaray, had his move delayed due to Napoli’s high asking price last summer. The Italian club initially demanded €120 million for the Nigerian forward when his Transfermarkt value was around €122-€120 million. This hefty price tag made it difficult for Osimhen to complete a transfer during that window.
However, Osimhen’s value has since decreased to €75 million on Transfermarkt, and Napoli has adjusted their asking price to match this updated valuation. This change in market value could make him a more attractive option for clubs looking for a talented striker at a more affordable price.
In contrast, Isak has been in exceptional form this season, netting 22 goals and providing five assists in 33 appearances for Newcastle United, making him their standout player. His previous market value of €75 million, established in May 2024, has now surged to €100 million, positioning him among the top strikers in the market. Only a select few players, including Erling Haaland, Kylian Mbappé, and Lautaro Martínez, currently have a higher market value.
While both Osimhen and Isak possess unique talents, some clubs may favor Osimhen due to his lower price tag. With transfer fees skyrocketing, many clubs are opting for more affordable options if the difference in quality is not significant. Given that Osimhen is seen as a similar talent to Isak, clubs might view the Nigerian striker as the more cost-effective choice.
In addition to the rise in value of Osimhen and Isak, other Super Eagles players have also experienced a boost in their market worth. Ola Aina, the Nottingham Forest defender, has seen his value jump from €12 million to €14 million in December 2024, and more recently, to €20 million. Similarly, Fulham’s Calvin Bassey has seen his valuation grow significantly, from €16 million in December 2023 to €25 million now, reflecting his rising stock in European football.
