Carvalho extended Liverpool's lead in the 34th minute, finishing a lofted pass from Elliott with a precise right-foot volley through Arsenal's goalkeeper Karl Hein. Arsenal's only goal came in the 40th minute from Kai Havertz, who scored from close range after being set up by Martin Ødegaard. A goalless second half ensured the win for Liverpool, now managed by Dutch coach Arne Slot, who replaced Jürgen Klopp.
In other pre-season action, Chelsea defeated Mexico’s Club America 3-0 in San Diego. Christopher Nkunku scored an early penalty in the third minute, followed by a 21st-minute header from 18-year-old Marc Guiu. Noni Madueke sealed the win with a second penalty in the 79th minute.
