Lionel Messi netted his quickest-ever goal as Argentina secured a comfortable victory against Australia in a friendly match held in Beijing.
The 35-year-old captain wasted no time, opening the scoring just one minute and 19 seconds into the game with a superb curling finish from the edge of the box, finding the top left corner.
In the 68th minute, substitute German Pezzella extended the world champions' lead with a well-executed header. Australia's Mitch Duke came close to scoring in the first half, but his shot was expertly saved by Aston Villa goalkeeper Emiliano Martinez, pushing the ball onto the post.
Throughout the match, Argentina, with Messi leading the way in his first appearance since agreeing to join Inter Miami, looked in control. The game marked Argentina's third fixture since winning the World Cup in December, and their first played outside of Argentina.
