Lionel Messi expressed his pride in Inter Miami's accomplishments during his first season despite the team missing out on the MLS playoffs. Inter Miami concluded their campaign with a 1-0 loss to Charlotte FC, with Messi playing the full game.
In a post on Instagram, Messi commended the team's efforts, highlighting their victory in the Leagues Cup, their appearance in the Lamar Hunt U.S. Open Cup final, and their near-miss in the MLS playoffs. He expressed the team's aspiration to improve and thanked the club and the city of Miami for their support.
During the season, Messi, 36, scored 11 goals in 14 matches for Inter Miami, and the team achieved an 8-2-4 record. His impact was particularly significant in their Leagues Cup triumph.
However, Messi's season was disrupted by a hamstring injury, and Inter Miami struggled in his absence, ultimately missing out on the playoffs. His arrival in the United States led to increased ticket and merchandise sales, signifying his significant influence on the club.
Inter Miami's future plans include their first overseas tour, with exhibition games in China, and Messi is set to join the Argentina squad for World Cup qualifiers against Uruguay and Brazil.
