Barcelona head coach Hansi Flick praised Robert Lewandowski after the striker reached a remarkable milestone of 100 Champions League goals on Tuesday. Lewandowski scored a penalty in the 10th minute and added a second goal later in a 3-0 win over Brest, helping Barcelona secure a provisional second-place spot in the standings.
Lewandowski, now only the third player to achieve this feat, joins an exclusive group behind Cristiano Ronaldo (140 goals) and Lionel Messi (129 goals). Flick expressed his admiration for Lewandowski's consistency, remarking that after Messi and Ronaldo, the Polish striker's goal-scoring record is "unbelievable." He reflected on his time with Lewandowski at Bayern Munich, where the forward also shattered numerous records.
The 36-year-old forward’s first goal came from the penalty spot after a challenge by Brest goalkeeper Marco Bizot, which Lewandowski expertly converted. His second goal was a clinical finish, showcasing his skill and positioning inside the box to secure Barcelona’s victory.
Lewandowski, whose 101 Champions League goals have come in 125 appearances for Borussia Dortmund, Bayern Munich, and Barcelona, expressed his pride at the achievement. The Polish striker also reflected on his journey, admitting he never imagined reaching such a milestone. This season, under Flick, Lewandowski has been in exceptional form, already netting 22 goals in 19 appearances across La Liga and European competition.
