Robert Lewandowski continued his impressive form by scoring twice as Barcelona secured their third consecutive Champions League victory with a dominant win over Red Star Belgrade. The 36-year-old striker took his tally for the season to 19 goals in 16 matches across all competitions. With his brace, Lewandowski is now just one goal shy of becoming the third player in history to reach 100 Champions League goals, following in the footsteps of Cristiano Ronaldo and Lionel Messi.
Barcelona initially fell behind after Inigo Martinez's 13th-minute header was canceled out by Silas Katompa Mvumpa’s unexpected goal for Red Star. However, Lewandowski restored Barcelona’s lead before halftime with a composed finish after Raphinha’s shot hit the post. In the second half, Barcelona took control, scoring two quick goals through Lewandowski and Raphinha, both assisted by Jules Kounde, who later provided the assist for Fermin Lopez’s goal, sealing the victory.
Red Star managed to pull one back late, with substitute Milson curling in a beautiful goal, but the Serbian side still remains winless and at the bottom of the group. Barcelona's 4-2 triumph moved them up to sixth place in the revamped 36-team Champions League table, and Lewandowski now has the opportunity to achieve his 100th Champions League goal when Barcelona faces Brest later this month.
