Leo Messi to remain in the USA: 'Saudi Arabia and Barcelona out of the picture'
Posted : 12 October 2023
Despite recent rumors about a possible return to Barcelona and a move to the Saudi league, Leo Messi has no intention of leaving the United States.
Inter Miami will play their last game of the season in 10 days, and some speculated that Messi might join another team until the start of the 2024/25 MLS season.
Spanish journalist Game Blaga, a close associate of Messi, clarified that this is not the case: "He will stay in the US for another month of vacation, like other footballers. Forget about Saudi Arabia or any other options that have been mentioned." After missing five of Inter Miami's last six games, Messi returned to the field this weekend.
His recent injury and absence from the squad had been surrounded by mystery. He came on as a 55th-minute substitute in their 1-0 home loss to Cincinnati, a defeat that confirmed Inter Miami's inability to qualify for the MLS playoffs this season.
Messi won't play in the next game with his American team, as he has been called up to the Argentina squad for the upcoming World Cup qualifying matches in South Africa. He might be included in the squad for the final game of the MLS season scheduled for October 21.
Messi has scored 11 goals in 13 games for Inter Miami this season, contributing to eight victories. However, when he didn't play, the team managed only one win in six games.
