Leo Messi mimics Thor's hand gesture in goal celebrations, with wife Antonella sharing photo

During one match, he mimicked the hand gesture of Marvel's Thor, holding his hands as if calling back the superhero with his battle hammer, Mjolnir. This gesture was explained by Messi's wife, Antonella, who posted a photo of Messi with a Thor sticker on her Instagram account, showing their connection.
 
In another match, Messi crossed his arms in an X-shape, emulating the "Wakanda Forever" salute from Marvel's Black Panther, a tribute to the late Chadwick Boseman, who portrayed the iconic character. These celebrations were not just spontaneous; they were part of a commercial partnership between MLS, Adidas, and Marvel. The U.S. Soccer League approved this collaboration, leading to a redesigned ball and a clothing line featuring Avengers characters.
 
Although some wondered if these celebrations might affect Messi's individual sponsors, it turns out that his goal celebrations were actually promoting the MLS partnership with Marvel, which aligns with his business interests.
 
Interestingly, Messi had celebrated in a similar way for Barcelona in the past, paying homage to Thanos, another Marvel villain, after scoring his 700th goal for the club.
