Leicester City Signs Chelsea Midfielder Michael Golding on Four-Year Deal

Leicester City has signed teenage midfielder Michael Golding from Chelsea on a four-year contract, the club announced on Sunday. The transfer fee remains undisclosed. The 18-year-old made his senior debut for Chelsea in a 4-0 FA Cup victory over Preston in January.

 

Expressing his enthusiasm, Golding shared on Leicester's official website, "I'm eager to progress my career here at Leicester and work hard to contribute to the team as much as possible." The newly-promoted Foxes are looking forward to integrating the young talent into their squad.

 

Leicester City, known for their remarkable 2015/16 Premier League title win and their 2021 FA Cup triumph, holds a special place in English football history. Golding acknowledged this, stating, "The club's history speaks for itself. There are great players here, and I aim to learn from them and the coaching staff to have a successful season."

 

Golding has an impressive international pedigree, having captained England at the 2023 European Under-17 Championships in Hungary and earning caps at the Under-16 and Under-18 levels. His arrival at Leicester is seen as a significant addition to the squad's depth and future potential.
