Lazio's high spirits from their recent Champions League victory over Bayern Munich took a hit as they squandered an early lead and lost at home to Bologna in Serie A on Sunday.
Just four days after securing a 1-0 win against Bayern Munich in the first leg of the Champions League round of 16, Lazio appeared to be carrying forward their positive momentum when Gustav Isaksen scored in the 18th minute.
However, Bologna fought back, with Morocco international Oussama El Azzouzi, making his first start since returning from the Africa Cup of Nations, equalizing in the 39th minute.
Dutchman Joshua Zirkzee secured the victory for the visitors with his eighth goal of the season in the 78th minute. Despite the loss, Bologna remained in fifth place, but their fourth consecutive victory brought them level on points with Atalanta, who have a game in hand.
Lazio, on the other hand, maintained their position in eighth but still have the opportunity to secure their second appearance in the Champions League quarterfinals on March 5 against a struggling Bayern Munich.
