LaLiga has recently presented the latest recipients of its awards program, “LaLiga Awards: The Pride of Our Fútbol,” as part of its collaboration with the Globe Soccer Awards. This initiative recognizes excellence across five monthly categories: Best Goal, Best Player, Best Coach, Best Save, and Best Under-23 Player. Additionally, there will be accolades for the Team of the Season and the player with the most significant social contributions.
The selection process for these awards combines insights from an expert committee with fan votes, allowing supporters to participate in determining the monthly winners online.
For September, the award for Best Player went to Lamine Yamal of FC Barcelona. Having previously secured the Best Under-23 Player accolade in August, Yamal's performance has been outstanding, contributing four goals and five assists by the conclusion of Matchday 9. Notably, his team only lost once, during Matchday 8 against CA Osasuna, a match in which he was not a starter. Despite this, he still managed to score, underscoring his crucial role in the squad. Yamal’s remarkable playmaking abilities were on display in a notable pass during a 5-1 victory against Villarreal CF, highlighting his form and influence on the pitch.
The Best Under-23 Player award for September was given to Alberto Moleiro from UD Las Palmas. Despite the team's struggles, failing to secure victories in five matches, Moleiro stood out by scoring in games against CA Osasuna and Real Betis. His performances earned him recognition, succeeding Lamine Yamal as the top young talent. Moleiro outperformed other nominees, including Enzo Boyomo, Marc Casadó, Hugo Álvarez, and Vitor Roque, to secure this accolade.
Ernesto Valverde of Athletic Club was honored as the Best Coach for September, recognized for his team's unbeaten streak during the month. Athletic Club achieved three victories against UD Las Palmas, CD Leganés, and RC Celta, along with a draw against Sevilla FC. Under Valverde's leadership, the team climbed to sixth place in the standings with 14 points. This award marks Valverde's first individual recognition this season, triumphing over competitors like Hansi Flick of FC Barcelona and Carlo Ancelotti of Real Madrid.
The Best Goal of September was awarded to Abdul Mumin of Rayo Vallecano for a powerful shot from distance that leveled the score during a match against CA Osasuna, which Rayo won 3-1. Mumin's goal was pivotal in the comeback effort. Lastly, Marko Dmitrović, the CD Leganés goalkeeper, was recognized for the Best Save of the month. His crucial save in a 1-1 draw against Getafe CF, where he blocked an overhead kick from Mauro Arambarri, earned him this distinction, marking the first time he has received this award.
