The Nigeria Women's Football League Championship play-off came to an end on Friday evening with home side, Lakeside FC Ogun State and Dannaz FC picking the two tickets at stake for elevation into the Nigeria Women Football Premier League.
Starting the game knowing that a victory of any colouration over Dream Stars Ladies will guarantee a Premier League ticket, Dannaz FC of Lagos wasted no time in racing to a two goal half time lead to the consternation of Ekiti Queens, the only other team with the prospect of seizing the ticket in Group A.
In Group B, Lakeside Queens also knew before the start of the game that they must win by no less than a 2 goal margin to secure the promotion ticket but they were over powered by nerves as the game became 1-1 before they regained the lead 2-1 over Prince Kazeem Eletu Queens at half time.
The Ikenne based side were more decisive in the 2nd half as they scored 2 more goals to wrap up the evening with a 4-1 victory. That was bad news for Sunshine Queens because the result meant that the Akure team would be spending another year in the championship.
