In an official statement on their website, Athletic Bilbao, the eight-time La Liga champions, have announced the signing of Elijah Gift, Liverpool's Spanish-born Nigerian winger.
While the specific details regarding the length and financial terms of the deal have not been disclosed, Gift has signed a five-year contract with Athletic Bilbao.
As part of the agreement, Liverpool will receive a transfer fee of one million euros for terminating Gift's contract before its expiration.
Athletic Bilbao has emphasized that Liverpool has granted permission for Gift to train with the club while the necessary formalities for his transfer are completed.
As outlined in the press release by Athletic Bilbao, Gift will initially begin his career with the club's C team, CD Basconia, which competes in the Tercera División RFEF, the fifth tier of Spanish football in the 2022-2023 season.
Two days ago, the 17-year-old confirmed his departure from Liverpool without revealing his new club.
However, on Wednesday, Gift took to Instagram once again to officially announce his transfer to Athletic Bilbao.
He expressed his joy at returning home and expressed eagerness to join the prestigious club and make an impact on the field.
Born in Corella, Gift was included in Spain's provisional squad for the 2023 European U17 Championship, but he ultimately missed out on the final roster.
