Kwara Utd sets deadlines on team's resumption ahead of next season
Posted : 10 July 2023
As Kwara United Football Club's resumption ahead of the commencement of the 2023/2024 Nigeria Premier League enters the 8th day tomorrow, Monday, July 10, the club said it would close its doors against old players that fail to show up in training on Monday.
The team resumed on Monday, July 3, 2023, from a month's break after its last match in the Federation Cup against Plateau United, which they lost by a lone goal.
The Technical Adviser of the club, Coach Kabiru Dogo, on Sunday asserted that any player not in training on Monday will henceforth be adjudged to have left the club.
"We have a long way to go, but we must know the players that are ready to continue with the team before we begin to look for replacements.
"Therefore, any of the old players who fails to be with us at the training ground tomorrow, Monday, July 10th, will be deemed to have left the club.
``The team will train at the Kwara Football Academy pitch on Monday, beginning from 7.30am.
"We began training last Monday, with few of the players, and as we progressed, we grew in numbers. We understand that some of the players participated in the annual AMAPRO competition.
``With that over now, any of them who is ready for us would need to join us tomorrow, which is the deadline.
Kwara United Football Club finished in the 8th position of Group A of the Abridged League last season and lost out in the quarter-final of the Federation Cup to Plateau United FC.
According to Coach Dogo, starting now and starting well will ensure that the team competes favourably in all competitions in the 2023/2024 season.
He said that some of the invited players will soon join the team ahead of the season.
