After scoring two goals in three games for Kwara United this season, lanky striker Wasiu Alalade has set his sights on scoring against Kano Pillars on Sunday in Katsina.
The Sai Masu Gida will host the Harmony Boys in a star match of the weekend, expected to test the credentials of Tunde Sanni and his squad.
Historically, Kano Pillars and Kwara United have met 21 times in competitive battles, with the Sai Masu Gida winning 10 games, the Warriors from Ilorin securing 9 wins, and the remaining two games ending in draws.
Notably, Kano Pillars have never lost at home to Kwara United. In fact, they have yet to drop a point.
Following their 4-3 away win in their last match against reigning NPFL champions Enugu Rangers, Kano Pillars' morale will be high as they face Kwara United in front of their fans. However, Alalade believes that he and his teammates can overcome the challenge in Katsina.
"We know the match will be tough because Pillars are one of the best teams in Nigeria, but we are ready for this game. I want to score against them, and most importantly, we aim to get a good result," the former Enyimba player explained.
Alalade, who hails from Ilemona in the Oyun LG Area of Kwara State, also expressed his excitement about meeting his idol, Ahmed Musa, who recently made his second return to Kano Pillars.
